There was only one new coronavirus case reported in Thailand today, taking the total number of cases up to 3,034. No new deaths were reported for the 11th consecutive day.
The single new case was a Thai chef who returned to Thailand on a repatriation flight from Bahrain. The virus was discovered while he was isolated in state quarantine in Bangkok.
The chef has shown no symptoms of covid-19 but was tested anyway as he was considered “at-risk” due to recently returning to the country.
Meanwhile, a further 31 patients have been discharged from hospitals and added to the recovered patients total which now stands at 2,888 or 96 percent of the total coronavirus cases.
Only 90 people remain in hospitals with the virus.
The spokesperson for the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration, Dr. Taweesilp Visanuyothin, said that Thailand has increased its coronavirus testing rate with 328,073 samples across 167 laboratories tested as of May 15th.
This represents a ratio of 4,926 to one million population. Just under one percent of the people tested have received a covid-19 positive result.
