The Thai Government today reported two new coronavirus cases and one new death – the first in just over two weeks – taking the total figures up to 3,042 and 57, respectively.
The death was reported as that of a woman from Chumphon province. The 68-year-old had caught the virus from contact with a previous patient and developed symptoms of the infection.
She had previous existing medical conditions including kidney failure, high blood pressure, and diabetes. She passed away on Sunday.
The two new cases were discovered in Phuket and Chonburi provinces. The first was a Chinese national, wife of an Italian man who was reported to have caught the virus already.
The second was a female masseuse who had recently returned on a repatriation flight from Russia and was staying in a state quarantine center in Chonburi province.
There were an additional seven people released from hospitals today, taking the total number of recoveries up to 2,928 or 96 percent of all patients.
57 people remain in hospitals around the country with the virus.
