The Faculty of Pharmacy at Chulalongkorn University has invented the “Chula COVID-19 Strip Test” which can detect coronavirus in people within 15 minutes.
After initial tests, the kits are now available to use on the public with the university currently able to handle 100 tests per day – 50 for personnel of the university and 50 for the public.
The strip test is based on a serology test that detects antibodies (IgG & IgM) in the blood serum or plasma and takes between 10 and 15 minutes to complete.
Initial screenings involve blood samples from the fingertip with results reliable in test screenings.
The general public can apply for the test at – http://covid19.thaitechstartup.org/.
Due to the limited number of tests daily, individuals who display a high to medium risk will be notified and scheduled for a visit to the university.
Previously, Chulalongkorn Hospital had made a public plea for more face masks for staff as they are rapidly running out of supplies.
