The ban on alcohol sales in Bangkok has been extended by 10 days until April 30th.
The announcement was made today by Bangkok Governor, Aswin Kwanmuang, after gaining approval from the Infectious Disease Control Committee.
The order also states that all entertainment venues in the capital city must remain closed until the end of the month.
The ban was originally implemented for 10 days and was due to end at midnight tonight, April 20th.
Bangkok joins a host of other provinces across Thailand that have extended their alcohol sales bans until the end of April.
Chawin Sirinak, Director of the city’s health department, referencing the alcohol ban, said:
“Although the numbers of the infected in Bangkok are decreasing continually, we cannot take solace in that fact yet because Bangkok is a transportation hub full of many communities and travelers.”
