All hotels in Phuket have been ordered to close effective Saturday, April 4th according to an order posted by the Phuket Governor.
The notice informs the public that all accommodation establishments, which include hotels, hostels, and other places registered to accept guests must close from tomorrow.
Any hotels which currently have guests must report to the local district offices. They may remain open while guests are staying in the hotel but cannot accept new guests and must close as soon as the last guests have vacated the premises.
The only exception is for hotels that are acting as hospitals or places of observation for the covid-19 situation.
The order also warns that any breach of the new rule may result in a fine of up to 100,000 baht or one year in prison.
The latest order is part of the lockdown currently in place across the province.
