With the nationwide curfew between 10 pm and 4 am coming into effect tonight, the Thai Government is already considering more extreme measures if the coronavirus situation doesn’t improve.
Government spokeswoman, Narumon Pinyosinwat, said that covid-19 figures will be accessed daily and if there is not a significant improvement over the next week a 24-hour nationwide curfew is possible.
She emphasized that Prime Minister, Prayut Chan-o-cha, doesn’t want to resort to such measures, but if the public does not fully cooperate with the current curfew then stricter rules will be put in place.
If such a decision is made, it will happen at the next cabinet meeting on Tuesday, April 7th.
Today, there was a further 103 new infections and 4 deaths in Thailand.
