The Thai Government’s Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration has announced 18 new covid-19 cases today – the first time new infections have reached double-digits in more than a week.
All 18 cases are from an immigration detention center in the southern province of Songkhla, with no other provinces in Thailand reporting any new virus infections.
This is despite 40 new cases being flagged in Yala where active testing is taking place. The Yala cases were first reported yesterday and confirmed today, but the government has still not added them to the official figures.
There has no been explanation so far as to why the Yala cases have not been reported with the national statistics.
The 18 new cases today takes the total number of covid-19 infections up to 2,740 across Thailand.
There were no new deaths reported today while a further 193 people have been discharged from hospital.
