The Thai Government today announced 11 new covid-19 cases, and for the second day in a row, all cases came from repatriated Thai citizens.
The spokesperson for the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration, Dr. Taweesilp Visanuyothin, announced that all 11 new cases were recent returnees from Kuwait, were of working age, and had mild or no symptoms.
Dr. Visanuyothin stressed the importance of maintaining proper hygiene measures and warned that the third phase of easing lockdown restrictions should not coincide with people becoming too comfortable. He said:
“Many people may feel comfortable because there are no new locally infected cases. This goes along with the general feeling as we are further easing the lockdown.”
There were no new deaths announced today and no new recoveries, with both totals remaining at 57 and 2,945, respectively.
Meanwhile, global covid-19 cases rose by 115,000 over the past 24 hours, taking the total number of virus cases worldwide up to 5.9 million.
